As part of its ongoing commitment to educational outreach and academic openness, the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science of the Democritus University of Thrace organizes annual visits for primary and secondary school units from Thrace and other regions of Greece.

These visits are carried out upon official approval and offer students the opportunity to explore the academic, scientific, and athletic activities of the Department through a rich and engaging program of educational and hands-on experiences.

Specifically, visiting students have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the Department’s curriculum and the professional prospects of its graduates,
  • Tour the laboratories and actively participate in related scientific activities,
  • Attend presentations on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, and the history of the Olympic Games,
  • Visit exhibitions hosted in the Department’s library,
  • Take part in physical and athletic activities, depending on their educational level and the objectives of each visit.

This initiative is supported by faculty members, academic staff, postgraduate and doctoral students, specialty students, laboratory personnel, and the Department’s Secretariat.

The program is implemented within the framework of the Practical Training course in Primary and Secondary Education, under the coordination of Dr. Vasiliki Derri, Professor, and Dr. Olga Kouli, Associate Professor of the Department.
