The Biomechanics sector of the interdisciplinary Laboratory of Physical Education and Sport is specialized in analyzing and studying human movement through the use of advanced technologies and methods. It is equipped with the most modern technology in Greece, comparable to the leading related laboratories worldwide, for recording and analyzing movement, the dynamic factors that produce it, muscle activation, as well as the morphology and mechanical properties of the muscle-tendon unit.

The research areas conducted in the Biomechanics sector include:

  • Investigation of the biomechanisms of movement disorders in individuals with neurological conditions
  • Development of innovative rehabilitation protocols for movement disorders through exercise/training
  • Maximization of the mechanical performance of muscle-tendon units in athletes and physically active individuals
