Curriculum Committee
At the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (DPESS), a nine-member Curriculum Committee oversees the “Physical Education and Sport Science” undergraduate program. It a) monitors the implementation of the curriculum and coordinates the program’s educational activities, b) drafts the program’s internal regulations and submits them for approval to the relevant authorities, and c) makes recommendations to the Department Assembly regarding teaching assignments, the formation of the Internal Evaluation Team, and the program’s enhancement.
Internal Evaluation Team (OMEA)
The Internal Evaluation Team (OMEA) of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science is responsible for conducting the department’s evaluation process, coordinating and implementing procedures defined by the Institution’s Internal Quality Assurance System in cooperation with the MODIP-DUTh, and handling any other matters as outlined by current legislation and the Institution’s regulations.
The OMEA is appointed following a proposal by the Department Chair and a decision by the Department Assembly. It primarily consists of faculty members holding the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, preferably with experience in quality assurance processes. The Assembly also appoints one member as the OMEA Coordinator. A student representative, designated by the DPESS Student Association “Spyros Louis,” may also participate. Members serve a four-year term, which can be renewed.
Internship Committee
The Internship Committee (IC) consists of three members appointed by the Department Assembly for a three-year term. It includes the Internship Coordinator, who leads the committee, and two additional members from the teaching or research staff, along with their alternates. The IC may serve all or several of the department’s study programs. The IC is responsible for:
- coordinating activities related to student internships,
- resolving issues during internship implementation,
- assigning supervisors to each intern,
- assisting the Internship Coordinator with organization and coordination,
- evaluating applications, preparing the ranking list, submitting it to the Department Assembly, and publishing the rankings on the Internship and Department websites, ensuring transparency, equal treatment, and compliance with data protection regulations.
Internship Appeals Committee
The Internship Appeals Committee consists of three members, along with their alternates, who are different from the Evaluation Committee members. It is appointed for a three-year term by the department and is responsible for handling student appeals regarding internship placement results when the internship is non-compulsory or selection criteria apply. The Appeals Committee may serve all or several of the department’s study programs at the school level. Members may include faculty, Special Teaching Staff (S.T.S.), Laboratory Teaching Staff (L.T.S.), or Specific Technical Laboratorial Staff (S.T.L.S.). The department may assign the role of the Appeals Committee to the Student Affairs Committee. The final appeal results are communicated to the Internship Committee and submitted to the DPESS Assembly for approval.
Student Affairs Committee
The Student Affairs Committee is appointed by the Department Assembly and consists of three faculty members and their alternates, serving a three-year term. The committee ensures the department functions effectively for the benefit of students and supports the teaching staff. Its structure and operations are governed by Articles 3, 4, 5, and 6 of Appendix 26 of the Institution’s Internal Regulations. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing student status (increased absence limits, study suspension, study termination, resumption of studies, etc.),
- Handling student complaints and appeals,
- Securing and modifying grades up to four months post-exam period (in line with institutional regulations),
- Addressing issues of academic conduct.
Erasmus+ Committee
At the DPESS, a faculty member is appointed as the Erasmus+ Coordinator, responsible for supervising, organizing, and managing incoming and outgoing student mobility at the academic department level (Article 18 of the current regulations).
