Admission to the Undergraduate Program “Science of Physical Education and Sport” of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (DPESS) is carried out:
a) through the current nationwide entrance examination system of the competent ministry (for high school graduates or those belonging to special categories),
b) through transfer exams (for graduates of other Departments or Schools). All details regarding the transfer process are mentioned in the Internal Regulations of the Democritus University of Thrace (Appendix 4). Graduates are placed in the 3rd semester of studies by decision of the Department Assembly. The Assembly may exempt transferred students from the examination of the three (3) subjects they were tested on during the transfer process, provided these subjects correspond to those in the Undergraduate Program “Science of Physical Education and Sport” and have been graded at least 5 on a 10-point scale. The Assembly also regulates all related study matters.
c) with an additional 5% of the admission slots, without exams, for students suffering from serious illnesses, in accordance with existing legislation.
d) by decision of the Administrative Council, following a proposal by the Rector and the opinion of the Dean of the School, foreign students from third countries may enroll in the Undergraduate Program “Science of Physical Education and Sport”. This decision also determines the number of admitted foreign students, admission criteria, tuition fees covering the total study cost, criteria for possible scholarships, required documents, the structure and operation rules of selection committees, application deadlines, study continuation rules, deletion rules, and any other necessary details. The Dean’s opinion is based on the Department Assembly’s view. Decisions are communicated to the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports and the National Higher Education Authority.
By decision of the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, issued no later than May 15 each year, following a proposal by the Senate and the Department Assembly, the number of admitted students for the next academic year is determined.
- Studies in the Undergraduate Program “Science of Physical Education and Sport” of DPESS begin with the first enrollment of the student. The enrollment of admitted students takes place at the beginning of the winter semester through the electronic application https://eregister.it.minedu.gov.gr/, on dates announced for all Higher Education Institutions.
- Enrollment of students in special categories (transfers, transfers from other departments, etc.) is carried out under specific conditions, with the submission of the required documents as defined by relevant regulations, within deadlines announced in advance.
- The student status is acquired upon registration at the University, according to the current regulations.
- To receive an academic student ID, students must submit their application online at https://academicid.minedu.gov.gr. Once approved by the Secretariat, students can collect their ID from the designated collection point chosen during their application.
- By registering for the Undergraduate Program, the student accepts the Internal Operating Regulations of the Democritus University of Thrace and the present regulations.
